The Icelandic Phallological Museum in Reykjavik features a varied collection of penises and penis-related objects. One recent addition to the collection: this sculpture, The Icelandic National Handball Team. As Sarah Lyall explains, the silver artwork, inspired by Iceland’s dramatic run to the silver medal in the 2008 Olympic handball competition, does not feature the actual penises of the Icelandic handball team. “We didn’t have a session after the game, if that’s what you mean,” explained goalkeeper Hreidar Levy Gudmundsson. “I think it’s a little bit weird, to be honest.”
So, you know, if you ever want to store a dildo collection in a shadow box, just say it was Olympian-inspired.
